Love him or hate him, Jack Edwards has been synonymous with the Boston Bruins and NESN for nearly 20 years, and with the announcement that's he's going to hang up the microphone at end of this years playoffs, the Bruins honoured him ahead of puck drop yesterday before their game against the Ottawa Senators.

Edwards has been known for being one of the most biased announcers in the game, if you're a fan of the Bruins, odds are you love him, if you're a fan of any other team, you likely have a certain level of disdain for him. In any case, his decline has been noticeable over the past few seasons and he's earned his flowers as he embarks on one last post-season run.

Jack Edwards getting honored by the Bruins and NESN prior to his retirement at the end of the hockey season and the Stanley Cup playoffs

Edwards has been an iconic voice in the hockey world and after trying to figure out why his speech is slowing down and not being able to, this is the right move, unfortunately.

You can tell Edwards doesn't want to step away, but he cannot deliver the game in the way that he wants to anymore.

Good luck in your retirement Mr. Edwards, you deserve to be able to rest.
