A memorial service for Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau that will be attended by close friends and family will be livestreamed by the Columbus Blue Jackets
While you won't be able to be there in person, those wanting to watch the memorial service for hockey players Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Gaudreau are being given the chance to do so. The Columbus Blue Jackets have announced the memorial service will be livestreamed due to the massive interest from the hockey community.
The service, which takes place Monday, September 9 starting at 12 PM ET, will be livestreamed at www.nhl.com/bluejackets.
"Contributions in both John and Matthew's memory may be made to the John & Matthew Gaudreau Foundation c/o Lewis Gross, Sports Management 560 Sylvan, Suite 3070, Englewood Cliffs, N.J. 07632
The family remains grateful for the expressions of love and support they have received and ask for continued respect and privacy at this time."
Meanwhile, the man charged with hitting and killing Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau made his second court appearance in the case on Thursday. Sean Higgins' appearance was short, and he was remanded into custody until another hearing on September 13. Among the charges Higgins is facing are two counts of "death by auto." According to a police report, Higgins told officers at the scene that he's had "five or six beers" before getting behind the wheel.
The Gaudreau brothers were remembered by a candlelight vigil Wednesday night organized by the Columbus Blue Jackets. About 1000 fans attended the service at nationwide Arena in Columbus, while Blue Jackets captain Boone Jenner, defenceman Erik Gudbranson and forward Cole Sillinger shared their memories of being with Johnny.
