Corey Perry is known by most as one of the premier agitators in the NHL, despite being in the back half of his career, but I don't think many people thought that you would see him off the ice and in a role. Specifically at a WWE event.
Last night Friday Night SmackDown was in Edmonton. During a match between Kevin Owens and Austin Theory, Perry made his presence felt By grabbing theory from behind and holding him in place while Owens delivered a chop across Theory's chest that sent him to the ground.
At this point, late in his career, Perry is just doing whatever he wants while still being a valuable member of the Edmonton Oilers on the ice.
I'm sure this moment of Cory Perry getting on WWE television. shocked the many viewers tuning in if they were able to recognize him. However, if you think about it, playing a pest on TV, even for a short time like the clip above, isn't a far cry from the pest of a hockey player he is on the ice.
Whatever the reason Perry showed up on Smackdown last night, it was comedic gold.
