Goaltender Mariah Fujimagari most recently spent time with the ECHL's Kalamazoo Wings. Now the 30-year-old has signed a PTO for the FPHL's Danbury Hat Tricks

If you're familiar with professional hockey leagues within North America then you may have heard of the Federal Prospect Hockey League. If you're not, the FPHL is a Single A minor professional hockey league comprised of fourteen teams primarily across the deep south and east coast of the United States.

Within the FPHL is a team in Danbury Connecticut nicknamed the Hat Tricks. The Hat Tricks announced that they have signed Mariah Fujimagari to a PTO entering the 2024-2025 season. If you're not familiar with Fujimagari, the 30-year-old was previously on the roster of the ECHL's Norfolk Admirals during the 2023-2024 season.

Many people will scratch their heads and wonder why a men's league would ask a woman to sign a PTO, however in 2024 although North America has the best women's league in the world in the PWHL, having a woman on a men's roster even for a second should not garner any negativity and if it does, people need to get their head examined.

Granted that Fujimagari may not be on the Hat Tricks roster very long and this may be a publicity stunt to elicit a response, both good or bad and/or sell tickets it's obvious she deserves an opportunity to play with the men like Manon Rheaume who suited up with the Tampa Bay Lightning for a very brief period or Shannon Szabados who filled in for an Edmonton Oilers practice or two.
