With the departure of Linus Ullmark via trade, it would appear that the Boston Bruins would have standout goaltender Jeremy Swayman as their starter going into next year, but he of course is still without a contract.
A new report from Kevin Paul Dupont of the Boston Globe has said that the Boston Bruins appear to not have any cap space in order to sign their number one goaltender, which of course would be a major problem.
Dupont says that the Boston Bruins currently have $8.6 million in cap space and Swaymans next contract is projected to be north of $9 million which means the Bruins do not have enough cap space to sign they're starting goaltender.
Swayman, 25, played in 44 regular season games for the Bruins last season compiling a record of 25-10-8 to go along with 3 shutouts, a 2.53 goals against average and a .916 save percentage.
If Swayman's next contract actually comes in around $9 million, or north of, the Boston Bruins have to shed some more salary before the beginning of next season in order to make a contract.
