With the hockey world grieving over the loss of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, some new details have surfaced about Sean Higgins, the man who was arrested for hitting the two with his vehicle.
According to Jeff Gould on X, Sean Higgins allegedly ran a drug and alcohol treatment center in Pennsylvania.
Sean Higgins, who was allegedly drinking before getting behind the wheel of his vehicle, was arrested by New Jersey state police on Thursday night and was subsequently charged with two counts of death by auto.
Higgins was in court via video on Friday and showed no remorse for his actions, only worried that he was going to be in a holding cell until next Thursday.
Court records showed the following from the arrest of Sean Higgins on Thursday night:
- Operating under the influence of liquor or drugs
- Unsafe lane change
- Improper passing
- Open container alcohol or unseal cannabis in motor vehicle
- Consume alcohol beverage or cannabis item in motor vehicle
- Reckless driving.
As the hockey community continues to mourn the passing of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, players, teams and fans have been sending in tributes through social media and gathering at the Scotiabank Saddledome and Nationwide Arena, homes of the Calgary Flames and Columbus Blue Jackets, respectively.
