In a matter of days, teams around the National Hockey League will need to submit their respective rosters for opening night and in order to assign some of those players to the minors, they need to go through waivers.
According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman on Friday afternoon, a total of 25 players were placed on the waiver wire for the purpose of being assigned to the American Hockey League, who had their training camps begin earlier this week. Among those on the wire today is Sam Poulin, a first-round pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2019.

It's expected to be quite busy on the wire over the weekend and for Friday's crop of players on waivers, we'll have to wait until Saturday at 2 pm ET to see if anyone is claimed or if they'll be assigned to the American Hockey League. The San Jose Sharks get the first crack at making a waiver claim as they finished last in the NHL in the 2023-24 season. They'll have first dibs on waiver claims until November 1st.
