Playing in the National Hockey League, no matter how sparingly is a blessing and a gift. When a former player passes away too soon, it's never an easy thing.
According to the NHL Alumni Association on X, former NHL player Mike Meeker has sadly passed away at the age of 66.
Meeker was drafted 25th overall in 1978 NHL Entry draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins. He would eventually go on to play just four games with the club. His career however, would see him play in many destinations in North America and abroad. Those places include the NCAA, OHL, AHL as well Sweden.
Meeker is most known for his impact in the community. He was known as a coach, a mentor and a volunteer multiple areas while being able to use his experiences as a guiding point for young athletes in his area. Meeker made his community a better place.
Our thoughts are will his family, friends and anyone who had the privilege to know Meeker as a person. This is an extremely difficult time for those who's lives he touched.
