An insider has revealed Carolina Hurricanes general manager Don Waddell is likely to leave the organization this summer as he's on an expiring contract.

Don Wadell has been the general manager of the Carolina hurricanes for a decade. However, with his deal expiring this summer, it appears that hurricanes are said to move on from their long-standing GM.

According to TSN's Pierre LeBrun The hurricanes have given Waddell permission to speak to other teams while he still under contract given the fact that it is expiring this off-season; Take a look.

Further to the report above, LeBrun has mentioned that Waddell Interviewed to be the general manager of the Columbus Blue Jackets yesterday, which has a vacancy.

And further to Elliotte, can also confirm Waddell interviewed with the Blue Jackets today

It appears as though Whenever Waddell's Contract expires this summer either he or the Hurricanes will decide that he is no longer fit for the organization.

Much like the rest of the league while Caroline has had really good regular season success they have never been able to get over that and sustained playoff success deep into the Second season. Maybe a different direction for Carolina is a good thing although they just did let Waddell sign Rod Brind'Amour to five-year contract extension, which is weird considering he's probably going to leave the organization.
