Matt Rempe of the New York Rangers has taken the National Hockey League by storm. Since he entered the league fans and medium members alike have been salivating at his playstyle But is he a danger to others on the ice? After all he only plays six minutes a game and he spends more time in the box than he does on the ice. One insider isn't too happy With Matt Rempe. He claims that Rempe and players like him are bad for the game.

According to Mark Lazerus of The Athletic, Rempe does more harm than good while on the ice and is a danger to other players every time he begins to play a shift; Take a look.

Matt Rempe plays less than 6 minutes a game. He's appeared in all of 20 games. Yet he's injured at least four players now (Bastian, Siegenthaler, Lybushkin, van Riemsdyk). Keep telling me how clean his hits are, and how great he is for the game.

Rempe is one of those players that plays an old style of hockey. He isn't afraid to take on anyone that issues the challenge to him. Some insiders like Lazerus claim that is a danger because he's essentially too big and can't always control his body, but this is something that all bigger hockey player learn how to do with time.

On one hand, Rempe does have to learn how to deliver checks that won't result in penalties, but I don't think the answer to that is altering how he plays the game. I think Rempe is young and he will learn exactly how to stay out of the box in the NHL given the sample size. I think Lazerus is writing him (Rempe) off a little bit too early.
