The Carolina Hurricanes and New York Rangers are in the middle of an intense round two and last night with no exception. As the series gets deeper and deeper, we are seeing both teams try to take liberties against one another. But when somebody tries to intentionally injured another player, that's where we should draw the line. I know playoff hockey is supposed to be harder hitting faster pace and just an all-around better game than the regular season. There's no need for someone to try to injure somebody else though. But when you have Jacob on your team, it's almost a given.

As is Trouba's trademark, he tried to come flying from across the ice and the huge head on Martin Necas, Just barely missing him with his elbow. It's a good thing Necas Was able to do because that could've been a lot worse; take a look.

TROUBA PLANE ✈️

In fact, Trouba is lucky that he wasn't given a game misconduct for intent to injure, It's actually in there in the rules and just barely missing him with a chicken wing qualifies for intent injure according to Dejan Kovacevic a columnist for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Per NHL rules: 'A match penalty shall be imposed on any player who deliberately attempts to injure or who deliberately injures an opponent in any manner.'

Not a minor or major. A match penalty. It's actually DEFINED by INTENT, not outcome.

And nothing.

I have to say, I agree with Kovacevic here. Given Trouba's history and the way he came flying across the ice with his elbow extended the case for intent to injure no matter if the elbow connected flush or not, is there, but it's not surprising he got away with it either.
