Jaromir Jagr's retirement plans confirmed by his agent
The retirement plans for future Hockey Hall of Famer Jaromir Jagr have been confirmed by his agent.
Jaromir Jagr began his 37th season of professional hockey on Wednesday with the club he owns, Kladno Knights and at 52-years-old, the future Hall of Famer registered an assist, showing that he's still able to produce in one of Europe's top leagues.
Being able to watch Jagr's longevity has been a treat for fans of the game, especially those who weren't alive to watch the beginning of his career when he was a star for the Pittsburgh Penguins. However, if you're hoping to watch him play, you might want to make plans soon as the 2024-25 campaign has been confirmed has been confirmed as his last in professional hockey.
In an interview with MatchTV.ru, Jaromir Jagr's agent Jaroslav Zidek said that his client will be retiring at the conclusion of Kladno's season.
Note: the quotes in this story are translated from Russian.
"Jaromir loves hockey very much. He is in very good health and has no problems with discipline. That is why he continues to play hockey. He is currently the oldest athlete who continues to play hockey. Before the match with Pardubice, Jaromir officially announced that this season would be his last in his career." Zidek said.
By stepping onto the ice for a game this season with Kladno, it also pushed Jaromir Jagr's Hall of Fame induction back by a year to 2028, Chris Johnston of TSN reported on Wednesday night. When the Hockey Hall of Fame Selection Committee meets in the spring of 2028, there won't be much of a discussion needed for Jaromir Jagr, he'll be inducted in his first year of eligibility.
