Jon Cooper provides major update on Mikhail Sergachev
The Tampa Bay Lightning and the Florida Panthers are about to kick off their first round playoff series while it has been noted that Mikhail Sergachev will miss the first round of the playoffs due to an injury, Lightning head coach Jon Cooper has stated when a possible return for Sergachev could be on deck ahead of puck drop against the Panthers.
According to lightning beat writer, Chris Krenn, Cooper had this to say about Sergachev's timeline it's a lot better than most originally thought; take a look.
My gut says this series would be out of reach for him. If we were fortunate enough to win this series, then we'd start having that discussion.
While Cooper mentions Sergachev will not make it into this series based on how he's feeling if the lightning get by the Panthers there is a chance That Sergachev becomes available.
Sergachev was spotted skating yesterday for the first time since sustaining a serious lower body injury. He has not played since February 7th And did undergo tibia and fibular surgery. The fact that he was wearing a regular jersey yesterday is a positive sign, but it remains to be seen if he'll get into any games while the lightning are in the playoffs.
All in all good for lightning fans, though, and while Tampa seems to be the underdog in this series, you can never out the Lightning.
