Arizona Coyotes send desperate message to season ticket holders
After becoming flustered after being asked about it during a news conference, Arizona Coyotes owner Alex Meruelo has sent a message to season ticket holders.
With the move of the Arizona Coyotes to Salt Lake City, Utah now officially in the works, the sticky question of refunds for people who bought tickets for the 2024-25 season has been raised. Asked about it during a news conference on Friday, former owner Alex Meruelo became flustered, and asked for time.
""We'll look at it and address it immediately. Just, let me, give me a chance to breath a little bit. Just, it's been very, like Gary said, it's been very overwhelming."
The question seemed to rattle Meruelo, or perhaps NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman enough that a breath was taken and an email sent to those who had already purchased season tickets for 2024-25. Meruelo took most of the message to remind fans that the team isn't officially dead yet.
"The first step to reactivate the Coyotes comes on June 27th, when we
intend to win an Arizona State Land Department auction for 110 acres on
Scottsdale Road & the 101 in the City of Phoenix. We hope you will show
your support and join us there!"
Those who want refunds can get them, according to the email. However, there's still no word on when or how.
"You are an integral part of our future, and we deeply appreciate your loyalty. While we focus our efforts on re-launching the Coyotes, we want to present you with your options as a valued season ticket member. Refunds will be processed and issued for Coyotes season ticket members for the 2024-25 season. We intend to honor all obligations under your season ticket member agreement. We will provide you with additional information next week on how to request refunds. In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to your account representative with any questions."
Meanwhile, potential hockey fans in Utah have already put down deposits on more than 20,000 season ticket packages.
