Last season was supposed to be a full-circle moment for Milan Lucic as he signed a one-year contract to return to the Boston Bruins. He had previously spent the first eight seasons of his NHL career with.
However in November, Lucic was arrested for an alleged domestic violence incident. Lucic took an indefinite leave of absence from the Bruins and never appeared in another game for them.
Flash forward three months and a Boston wouldn't allow the case to go to trial, refusing the allow the 911 call from Lucic's wife to be used.
Lucic became an unrestricted free agent last month and while he hasn't been reinstated by the NHL yet, according to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, he would like to continue his career this fall.
In a post on social media, Seravalli shared that Lucic has been training in New Jersey this summer and is attempting to continue his professional hockey career soon. Because Lucic is ineligible to play in the National Hockey League, he would need to be cleared to play by Commissioner Gary Bettman, despite them not officially suspending him.
The 36-year-old appeared in four games in his return to the Boston Bruins last season, registering two assists, two penalty minutes and was a minus-one.
