A Minnesota Wild prospect and a St. Louis Blues prospect have been traded for each other before the start of the regular season.

It's the home stretch of the off-season for most hockey leagues in North America and as such, it's fitting that a trade was announced moments ago involving both a Minnesota Wild Prospect and a St Louis Blues Prospect in a one for one trade.

According to Jesse Courville-Lynch, better known by many on instagram as The Mug, Ryder Ritchie is being traded to the Medicine Hat Tigers in exchange for Thomas Mrsic.

Ritchie, 18, played in 47 games for the Prince Albert Raider last year collecting 44 points including 19 goals and 25 assists.

Thomas Mrsic, who is also 18, had 62 points in 63 games including 23 goals and 39 assists.

In junior hockey it is far more common for prospects to get traded for each other, but a one for one trade isn't all that common, especially right before the season is scheduled to start, but they do happen.

Maybe this will be a fresh start for both players and a change of scenery would be welcomed with open arms. We'll have to wait for the season to start in order to find out though.
