He had to know there was no way he was getting away with this one as soon as it happened. Now, the NHL's Department of Player Safety has thrown the book at Tanner Jeannot for a brutal open-ice hit on Brock Boeser of the Vancouver Canucks.
It happened around halfway through the first period of the game between the Vancouver Canucks when Tanner Jeannot caught Brock Boeser in the chin with a high hit that forced Boeser out of the game. It's likely one of the dirtiest hits of the 2024-25 NHL regular season so far. Jeannot got a match penalty on the play, which triggered an automatic review by the NHL's Department of Player Safety.
According to Elliotte Friedman, DoPS has decided to suspend Tanner Jeannot of the LA Kings for 3 games.
As mentioned, the match penalty means a player is automatically suspended until the league states otherwise. The supplemental discipline on this one should come as no surprise to anyone.
Tanner Jeannot may have been caught up in the heat of the moment, but there's just no excuse for a hit like that.
There is no word yet on the condition of brock Boeser of the Vancouver Canucks, or whether he'll miss any games. He looked to be pretty banged up. Meanwhile, The LA Kings recently had their own unfortunate incident as two teammates collided during a game against the Nashville Predators.
