With the continued frustration and lack of success from the Red Wings, many have wondered if a move could be on the horizon to shake things up and provide a spark.
Over the last several weeks rumors have been flying related to Derek Lalonde being fired and big-name players being traded to reset the Detroit Red Wings going forward.
Today those rumors continue as a user on X named Sash Sharnaz posted an alleged report from Chris Johnston confirming that Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin requested a trade from the team.
The original post by this user created a ton of speculation and interest in the potential story.
Sources began trying to find the quote from Chris Johnston himself and see if these reports were based in fact or just a potential rumor floated from social media.
After the rumor had spread wide across social media and began to pick up credibility NHL insider Chris Johnston who was the one connected to the report came in to shut things down.
He flat-out denied the reports and confirmed he had never spoken to the person who claimed to have the information and revealed he had no such information on Dylan Larkin.
With that cleared up the Detroit Red Wings' future remains a mystery they remain near the bottom of the NHL with no lifeline to bring themselves back up.
It will be interesting to see how long the Red Wings will have to continue to struggle before Steve Yzerman and the front office decide to make major moves to fix the roster.
