NHL releases key dates calendar for 2024-25 season

The National Hockey League has released their key dates calendar for the 2024-25 season.

We're getting closer and closer to the start of the 2024-25 season in the National Hockey League with the puck dropping on October 4th as the Buffalo Sabres and New Jersey Devils battle at O2 Arena in Prague, Czechia.

With the season less than a month away, the National Hockey League has released their key dates calendar for the 2024-25 campaign including when the trade deadline will be, as well as the holiday roster freeze.

Starting with the holiday roster freeze, that'll be from December 20th until the 27th. Between these dates, teams around the National Hockey League are unable to make trades, put players on waivers or assign anyone to the American Hockey League. Following their 13-game slate on December 23rd, the NHL will have a three-day holiday break before action picks back up on December 27th with eight games.

The NHL 4 Nations Face-Off is the next key date on the league's calendar for 2024-25, aside from the 2025 Winter Classic. The four team international event will take place in Boston and Montreal, with the NHL going on a break from February 10th to 21st.

Just two weeks after the break ends, the National Hockey League will have their trade deadline for the 2024-25 season, The deadline is set for 3 p.m. ET on Friday, March 7th. For the third year in a row, the National Hockey League is having their trade deadline on a Friday.

Meanwhile, the last day of the 2024-25 regular season is set for Thursday, April 17th, with the Stanley Cup Playoffs beginning just two days later - April 19th. As for the Stanley Cup Final, the last possible day, which would be a Game 7, is scheduled for Monday, June 23rd.

Training camps around the National Hockey League are set to open next week, with preseason games beginning on Saturday, September 21st. Hockey fans won't have to wait too long now to see their favourite team back in action.
