Several NHLers recently came together to help set new world record for highest hockey game in Switzerland.

Most National Hockey League players are relaxing and enjoying their last few weeks of vacation before they head back to their respective cities to get ready for training camp and the 2024-25 season.

However, for a trio of NHLers, they decided to help set a new world record by participating in an outdoor hockey game in the Swiss Alps.

Earlier this week, Nino Niederreiter, Jonas Siegenthaler, and Nico Hischier all participated in the 'World's Highest Hockey Game'. The game was played in Switzerland at Jungfraujoch, which is the highest accessible point in all of Europe at 3,454 metres above sea level.

All players who participated in the game, including those from SC Bern, a team in Switzerland's top division, National League, arrived at the rink built in Jungfraujoch by helicopter.

"That was one of the more special games I've experienced in my career," Hischier told BZ Basel from atop the Alps, "I don't know if I'll experience it again."

"Hats off to all, for making the event possible. If you look around here, it's really very cool."

Niederreiter, Siegenthaler and Hischier were joined in the Swiss Alps by a pair of other NHLers - Pius Suter of the Vancouver Canucks and Philipp Kurashev of the Chicago Blackhawks. The team of NHLers would go on to win the 3-on-3 game against members of SC Bern and other Europeans by a score of 6 to 5.
