Official: Elias Pettersson agrees to an 8 year deal with Canucks
Rumours have been swirling around superstar forward Elias Pettersson and the Vancouver Canucks for some time now and it looks like the two sides have agreed on a contract extension.
According to the Vancouver Canucks the two sides have agreed on an 8 year contract extension; take a look.
Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the club has agreed to terms with forward Elias Pettersson on an eight-year contract.
This deal is a massive win for the Canucks as they keep one of their franchise cornerstones around for a long time.
The deal is 8 years and carries an AAV of 11.6 million dollars a season. For the numbers that were initially reported, this contract seems like a steal to get under the 12M per season threshold.
8 years x $11.6 million AAV for Elias Pettersson
The contract makes Pettersson the 5th highest paid player in the league. Only Auston Matthews, Nathan MacKinnon, Connor McDavid and Artemi Panarin make more money.
Elias Pettersson will carry the NHL's fifth-highest cap hit at $11.6M next season in what is his final RFA year -- behind Auston Matthews ($13.25M), Nathan MacKinnon ($12.6M), Connor McDavid ($12.5M) and Artemi Panarin ($11.642M).
