The Battle of Alberta was reignited last night, albeit, at a rookie tournament when prospects for both teams are given the opportunity to stand out and make a name for themselves within their organization. Last night's battle of Alberta between the Edmonton Oilers and the Calgary Flames may not be the one fans are used to, but, clearly, it meant something to the players involved.
Just minutes into the first period, two heavyweight prospects in Parker Bell and Connor Clattenberg would go toe-to-toe, dropping the gloves at centre ice in a thrilling heavyweight tilt.
In these showcase' games, it's all about proving you can provide something to your organizations, in whatever way possible. Bell and Clattenberg were certainly players to take note of.
It didn't take long for the action to start once the gloves were down with Bell and Clattenberg exchanging blows rather feverishly with Clattenberg ending the bout with a right hand that would bring bell down.
Both players are rather sizeable with Clattenberg standing at 6-foot-4 inches and 195 pounds while Bell stand at 6-foot-4 inches and 192 pounds.
On paper this was a pretty even matchup, Clattenbeg got the upper hand though.
