Philadelphia Rebels honour Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau before season opener

The tributes continue to pour in following the tragic passing of Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau, this time from the Philadelphia Rebels.

The hockey community far and wide is still feeling the sadness surrounding the tragic passing of the Gaudreau brothers on August 29th Johnny Gaudreau passes away in tragic accident at 31-years-old.

Now, Matthew Gaudreau's former team, the Philadelphia Rebels of the NAHL have honoured both Gaudreau brothers ahead of their season opening game. Matthew Gaudreau was an assistant coach with the team.

The Philadelphia Rebels came out wearing shirts with both Johnny and Matthew's numbers on them and this season will be played in honour of the players and people they were. The NAHL is a junior hockey league and the players that Matthew worked with have to be playing with heavy hearts to say the least.

The impact this has had on the hockey community as a whole is nothing short of utter devastation, but the tributes and support the Gaudreau family has gotten from the community far and wide is remarkable nonetheless.

You can feel how much Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau meant to those around them. The Philadelphia rebels are just the latest example.

Our thoughts continue to be with the Gaudreau family and anyone who has been impacted by this senseless tragedy.
