Earlier this season, the Chicago Blackhawks decided to terminate the contract of long time veteran forward Corey Perry for his conduct off the ice. When it initially happened, it was the talk of the National Hockey League and it seems as if the Blackhawks finally know the extent of the penalty they have to pay for the termination.

According to PuckPedia, the Blackhawks owed Perry just over a million dollars for the games he played in this year, but to go along with that, the team has agreed to a severe penalty as well after everything was settled; take a look.

Our understanding of Perry termination/grievance resolution is #Blackhawks were assessed $1.99M Cap Charge for period after termination.

On top of the $1.02M cap charge while with team, CHI total cap charge will be $3.01M of Perry's original $4M contract

The Blackhawks had to absorb a cap charge of 1.02M because of the games Perry played in for them this season and they have also been given a cap charge of 1.99M as a result of the settlement. The settlement was reached because Perry had threatened to file a grievance with the league

That's quite a hefty penalty in total. Perry will be paid 3.01 of his 4M contract. All of this for Perry not to play for the Blackhawks anymore
