Blainville-Boisbriand Armada defenseman Samuel Kupec, a teammate of NHL prospect Juraj Slafkovsky, went through a truly harrowing experience in a recent game.
The 18-year-old was stretchered off the ice and taken to the hospital after a seriously bad injury.
Kupec lay motionless on the ice for over 10 minutes while a hush fell over the arena. Fans and players alike were riveted by worry, joined in their hopes that he would be okay. It's the scene nobody ever wants to see in the game of hockey.
There are no pictures of the incident that have been released with respect to Kupec and his family. For now, everyone just wants him to be well and get back on his feet.
After a vicious hit from behind courtesy of Angelo Fullerton, Kupec was badly injured and in need of immediate medical attention.
The scene was rather grim at that moment, but fortunately, there is some good news to report now.
Reports are that Kupec is on the road to recovery, but he's likely to be out of the lineup for a while.
He'll be missed, as the young defenceman has been carving a niche in his first QMJHL season.
Kupec is a 6-foot-2, 212-pound player who has recorded four points, 14 penalty minutes, and a +1 rating in 19 games this season.
The performance accentuates the promise he holds after two years of development time in Slovakia.
The entire hockey world is sending well wishes in hopes Kupec makes a full recovery. That question mark hangs on when he'll be back, but hopefully, he will be on the ice, moving forward with his promising career.
