Top free agent outside North America signs NHL contract
The National Hockey League is widely regarded as the best professional hockey league in the world, so much so that players in other leagues use them as a stepping stone (sometimes) to attract NHL attention. Now it appears that the top free agent outside of North America wants to come over and play in the NHL. If he does, teams should be lining up for his services.
According to the New York Islanders , top KHL free agent Maxim Tsyplakov has signed with the team on a one year entry level deal; take a look.
#Isles News: The New York Islanders announced today that they have signed Maxim Tsyplakov to a one-year, entry-level contract
Tsyplakov, 25, played in 63 games with Moscow Spartak in the KHL this past season, he scored 31 goals and added 16 assists for a total of 47 points.
Tsyplakov is a winger that likes to use his size and can do it well. At the very least 12 NHL teams expressed interest in him before he signed with the Islanders
Some KHL players have had a hard time acclimatizing to the North American game while others have hit the ground running, which one will Tsyplakov be? Only time will tell
