Top prospect arrested

A player from the QMJHL league Jordan Dumais has gotten himself in trouble after being charged by the police for driving under the influence earlier this month. The Halifax Mooseheads forward has been suspended five games because of his DUI charge.

In a statement, Halifax Regional Police spokesperson Const. Paul DesRochers said officers stopped a vehicle in the 2000 block of Brunswick Street in Halifax for a traffic violation around 2:20 a.m. March 1.

«Officers observed signs of impairment from the driver and arrested them,»
he said.

The 19 year old, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date to face charges of operating a conveyance while impaired and operating a conveyance with a blood alcohol level of over .08.

In Nova Scotia, drivers caught with a blood alcohol content of .05 to .08 can lose their license for seven days on a first offence.

Dumais' suspension will cause him to miss the rest of the regular season and the first playoff game.

Dumais was selected 96th overall during the 2022 NHL Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Montreal native, became the Halifax Mooseheads all-time point scorer back in November when he scored his 304th career point. In 193 games with Halifax, Dumais has scored an amazing 119 goals and 325 points.
