The Four Nations Cup hosted by the National Hockey League is set to take place from February 12-20, 2025, featuring teams from Canada, the United States, Finland & Sweden and while rosters for each country are slowly being released, it appears that the Canadians are also sharing who will be part of their executive and management for the tournament.

In a release shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, Hockey Canada announced that Tampa Bay General Manager Julien Brisebois has been named assistant general manager for the tournament while Pittsburgh Penguins President of Hockey Operations and general manager has been appointed Director of Player Personnel.

The naming of Brisebois makes a ton of sense while appointing Dubas is a head-scratcher, at least if you subscribe to the idea of success or lack thereof at the National Hockey League level. While Brisebois helped spearhead championship teams including at the American Hockey League level with the Norfolk Admirals, He was also instrumental in helping the Tampa Bay Lightning win the Stanley Cup in 2020. He would help the team repeat during the 2021 season.

Dubas on the other hand has never won a championship at the professional level. While he has the knack and ability to scope out talent whom he believes can be important pieces to a puzzle, he has been able to build organizations, but never to the point of ultimate success.

Whether Hockey Canada can build a team to be successful at the Four Nations Cup is too early to tell and even if the team looks good on paper, has a ton of pedigree behind them and has players who have tasted success before, the tournament itself will be a different animal. At any point, the other three teams could and should surprise everyone. Canada winning gold, won't be automatic.
