New statistics suggest that Canadians don't care all too much about playoff even though the Edmonton Oilers are in the Stanley Cup final.

You would've thought with the Edmonton Oilers being in the Stanley Cup final this year against the Florida Panthers that TV ratings in Canada would be off the charts. The only remaining Canadian team has a chance to bring the Stanley Cup back to Canada. It seems a large portion of Canadians don't actually care though.

According to the Globe and Mail, finals viewership is not where it should be in Canada compared to that of their US counterpart. Something that you wouldn't think with Canadian team being so close to the Stanley Cup.

The few ratings numbers that have been released haven't been great. They're up in Canada, but not up in a way that suggests the Oilers have captivated any non-sports obsessives. According to the NHL, seven million people across North America watched Game 1.

The globe and mail suggest that while numbers are up in Canada, they're not earth shattering in fact, 58% of Canadians Haven't tuned in to a Stanley Cup final game. You think that the Oilers, especially with the best player on the planet in Connor McDavid would be able to drive numbers up in Canada, but that isn't happening.

Whatever the reason for the poor viewership, I think it's safe to say that Canadians don't care about hockey and the way that they used to.
