The Florida Panthers faced off against the Edmonton Oilers in game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final last night. With the Oilers running up the score on the Panthers it of course wasn't going to be long before tempers boiled over.
Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk Absolutely unloaded on Oilers forward and superstar Connor McDavid behind the net, landing a series of uppercuts during a stoppage in play.
It's well known across the National Hockey League that Tkachuk is known as a sneakily dirty player, in large part because of plays exactly like this one. He's one of those players that you hate when he's not on your team, but would love if he is.
It's somewhat surprising that he was able to get three uppercut in on the best player in the world without much of a response by either the officials or his Edmonton Oilers teammates. Usually when something like this happens, especially when it is against Connor McDavid everybody's quick to jump to his defence.
Although this is the Stanley Cup Final And not a regular season game, it's still surprising that Tkachuk Was able to land uppercut without a response. When your team is being embarrassed like the Panthers were, you want to send a message. However, this is only going to add to the Matthew Tkachuk hate around the league.
