ESPN announces their next NHL inspired 30 in 30 special
The ESPN 30 for 30 franchise has brought sports fans some amazing insights into sports-related incidents in history and while they run repeats on their flagship station and on TSN in Canada, a new production is set to be released that focuses on the 2011 Vancouver Stanley Cup riots.
The incident in question that caused widespread damage occurred after the Canucks lost game seven to the Boston Bruins. Directors Asia Youngman and Kathleen Jayme have taken footage captured on hundreds of cell phones to build this exclusive footage. The documentary will give a behind the scenes view for fans of what exactly went down that night.
The filmmakers wanted to explain not just what occurred but answer the question of why.
Why do we get caught up in the emotions of winning and losing? Why do normal people sometimes run amok and do things they regret?
The documentary is executive produced by ESPN Films and further details will be announced at a later date.
