National Hockey league announces referees for the Stanley Cup, continuing to prove they don't care about performance
Gary Bettman has made it clear on multiple occasions that he believes the NHL has the best officials in the world. Whether you agree with that or not, Bettman has been steadfast in his belief and support of his officials. Going as far as to fine coaches and teams substantial amounts of money for any criticism of his officiating.
With the Stanley Cup Finals set to start June 3rd, the league has made their choices for which officials will work the Cup Finals public. The list includes the officiating duo of Wes McCauley and Dan O'Rourke, two officials who have been heavily criticized this season.
McCauley and O'Rourke were the duo responsible for the tripping penalty called on Jordan Staal with less than a minute left which resulted in the Panthers series clinching goal. Fans immediately began to point out the issues with league's choices.
The league will have a difficult time explaining why Wes McCauley attempts to make himself the main character in the Stanley Cup Finals, but that's why everyone watches sports right?
