Pat Maroon lays out Mark Giordano with a hit on the numbers at the end of the 2nd period
The Toronto Maple Leafs looking to clinch their first series victory in 19 years tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning. With the Lightning up 2-1 in the 2nd Patrick Maroon's poor decision making will leave the Lightning shorthanded to start the 3rd.
With less than 3 seconds left in the period Maroon takes an opportunity to deliver a check to the back of Mark Giordano. Unfortunately for the Lightning the hit was delivered directly to the numbers and sent Gio hard into the boards leaving him shaken up.
Maroon was given a 2 minute minor for roughing on the play, but Sheldon Keefe attempted to lobby hard for a major penalty.
