There's been speculation surrounding the Toronto Maple Leafs and star William Nylander as he's been labelled as the odd man out between the three of he, Matthews and Marner, but will a deal finally get done? It's looking like that is certainly a possibility. The front runner to land the 40 goal man is surprising though.
According to Eklund of Hockeybuzz.com, the New York Islanders have emerged as the front runners to land William Nylander; Take a look.
While this report is on the vague side of things, Eklund does mention that the Islanders are very much the favourite to land the Leafs winger, saying also the JG Pageau would be part of the package going the other way.
The fit for the Islanders is there as they need a little bit more offensive punch, but will the Leafs entertain it? That is the million dollar question.
