NHL Insider believes west coast team will do anything to acquire a goalie
As teams fall out of the playoffs it often shows glaring errors in their makeup. For the Los Angeles Kings, that glaring error was exposed as goaltending by the Edmonton Oilers. After acquiring Joonas Korpisalo at the deadline, things didn't work out how the Kings had planned.
Previously the Kings had Cal Petersen anointed as their goaltender of the future, but Petersen has fallen off at a record pace. Last season Petersen found himself demoted to the American Hockey League, where he has continued to struggle. The Kings also traded franchise icon Jonathan Quick at the deadline last year in hopes of finding a solution.
Now it appears the Kings will do anything in their power to finally secure this position once again. On the most recent addition of the 32 Thoughts Podcast, Jeff Marek and Elliotte Friedman confirmed the Kings intentions.
Marek on 32TP: To me it looks like LA is a team that is poised to make a big move for a goaltender and they have the assets to do it.
EF: Yea, I agree with you.
The Kings are in desperate need to find a goalie and with an incredible amount of NHL ready prospects there are lots of options out there for the Kings. Look for the Kings to heavily pursue Thatcher Demko and Carter Hart as major options this summer as teams look to make major changes.
