The Edmonton Oilers have acquired a former first round pick from the Vancouver Canucks.

On Sunday night, the Edmonton Oilers, who are in a bit of a tricky cap situation and dealing with a pair of offer sheets to RFAs on their roster, have brought in a former first round pick from the Vancouver Canucks.

In a post on social media on Sunday, the Oilers announced that they've acquired forward Vasily Podkolzin from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for a fourth round pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.

Podkolzin, 23, saw his opportunities with the Canucks dwindle since his first season in the National Hockey League. He didn't perform that well over the last couple of years when put into the lineup in the NHL after registering 26 points in 79 games during his rookie season.

In 137 career NHL games, Podkolzin has 35 points (18 goals, 17 assists) and 43 penalty minutes. The Moscow native was selected 10th overall by the Canucks in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.

More to come.
