If reports that have surfaced are accurate, the only two Ontario-based NHL teams could get a boost if two key players currently on their rosters would like a change of scenery or the teams feel the change of scenery is necessary to change the dynamic of their respective franchises.
On a recent episode of Kyper and Bourne, the two discussed the possibility of a trade that would send Brady Tkachuk to the Maple Leafs while the Senators would receive Mitch Marner in return.
On the surface, the potential of this prospective trade could definitely alter the course of each franchise. The Maple Leafs have made the playoffs every year in the core four era but have failed to do anything monumental as they have only advanced to the second round once during this time. The same can be said for the Senators, as they have failed year after year since drafting Tkachuk, even with pieces in place that, in theory, should have at least gotten them into the playoffs.
It should be pointed out that this trade idea seems like a pipe dream and likely won't happen, but the intrigue surrounding it and the chance to have two very impactful players moving organizations for a fresh start are exciting nonetheless
