The Toronto Maple Leafs and Utah HC may be working on a trade involving restricted free agent Nick Robertson as he won't sign and is looking for more playing time.

Nick Robertson has been the subject of trade rumours most of this off-season after telling the Leafs that he would not re-sign as restricted free agent, it seemed for a while that the Leafs were going to be content letting him sit out for a long time, but that might not be the case

According to NHL Trade Rumours, The Toronto Maple Leafs and Utah HC are working on a trade that would send Nick Robertson to Utah while the Maple leafs would get son of former franchise legend Josh Doan.

This trade would be interesting not only because Josh's dad Shane currently works for the Toronto Maple Leafs but this trade actually works out well for both sides. Robertson gets his fresh start with a more prominent role on a team that needs offence and Doan is a cheaper option that can help out Toronto's depth for the time being and hopefully turn into a key contribution as he gets more experience.

Why this trade happens remains me seen, but it certainly is intriguing especially because there are holes in the Toronto Maple Leafs lineup that seem to be there in order to give younger players a shot to fill them. Doan plays physical style of game, which could help the leaves in the long run and it's never a bad idea to eject a team with youth especially when they're surrounded by star players in Toronto.
