Ottawa Senators General Manager Steve Staios commented on the trade this afternoon, saying that believe Jenik has offensive upside and is versitile, being able to play center or on the wing.
Jenik, 23, spent the majority of the season in the AHL with the Tucson Roadrunners where he put up 36 points (16 goals, 20 assists), 48 penalty minutes and was a plus-four. He also appeared in five games with the now-dissolved Arizona Coyotes, recording one assist.
Sokolov, 24, was a second-round pick of the Ottawa Senators in 2020. This past season, he appeared in 71 AHL games for Belleville where he registered 46 points (21 goals, 25 assists), 69 penalty minutes and was a minus-seven. In seven playoff games, he added four points.
