After a slow start to the 2024/25 season, Trevor Zegras started to get going in recent times, posting six points in the last seven games that the highly scrutinized forward has played in.
Unfortunately, he would suffer an injury on December 4th against the Vegas Golden Knights, and with no return yet, it could be another big injury for the already injury prone forward.
Now, another twist has come up in this story, as Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff is reporting that Zegras is now set to get a second opinion on the injury and the best way to treat it, seemingly unsatisfied with the outcome of his meeting with Ducks doctors.
According to Seravalli, this will leave us getting an answer in the next 24-48 hours, just around a week after the injury was suffered, meaning that this clearly isn't a very straight forward injury.
Last season, the 23-year old was limited to just 31 games played, and given his clear struggles on the ice this season, this is the last thing that the young forward needed to deal with.
When healthy, Zegras remains a threat on the shootout, but beyond some good highlights in recent times in that situation, it's been a very troubling year for the young man.
From once one of the most promising players in the NHL to struggling to play at a consistent level, it's clear that Zegras has taken a step back in recent years, and now he's hoping for a quick recovery so that he can get back on the ice and prove what type of player he is once more.
