The game of hockey has always been one where players are a self policing type and sometimes, there's no other way to do it. When an opposing player takes liberties against your stars, you best believe they aren't going to get away with it.
Tonight, the Boston Bruins are hosting the Montreal Canadiens and things are getting heated early on, as Canadiens forward Rem Pitlick destroys Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand doesn't take too kindly to it. Take a look:
Say what you will about the hit, any way you look at it, it's a late in the corner. Marchand, for everything he is will not hesitate to defend his teammates and on this play, going after Pitlick is the right choice.
Especially with it being in the first period, you can't let Montreal set that kind of tone for the rest of the game.
If you're a teammate of Marchand, you love to see him defend his captain like that.
It's quite telling as well when Bergeron, generally a well mannered hockey player is hot after a hit.
The thing that makes the Bruins so dangerous this year is that everyone buys in and is pulling on the same rope.
