Boston Bruins make promise to target Panthers top players
Bruins Coach Jim Montgomery held his pre game press conference ahead of Boston's pivotal Game 4 matchup with the Florida Panthers tonight. Among the topics covered were the health of captain Brad Marchand, his opinion on the Sam Bennett hit and lack of his team's response.
Boston lost Game 3 by a score of 6-2, getting outplayed for most of the night. The biggest loss of the game, occurred in the third period when Marchand was injured after taking a hit from Panthers Bennett.
Montgomery provided an update on captain Brad Marchand
"Marchand is out tonight.. he's doing well it's day to day.. (Danton) Heinen is a option for tonight."
Montgomery going into further detail his opion on the Bennett play on Marchand.
"I think it's outside the lines, it was someone who plays the game on the edge and he knew what he was doing. I don't know if you've seen the picture from behind. He clearly loaded up."
Why no retaliation on the play?
"I feel thats my fault that we didn't relatite to some degree. Your trying to get back in a game. It's 1-0 until they get the four minute powerplay we start the third and score right away and now we have juices going. There's reasons why? It's something I take some personal responsibility for that".
Marchand's teammates Pavel Zacha and Trent Frederic shared their thoughts on the play that took out Boston's captain.
"To go after our captain, that's not okay with us. We're ready to be physical again today and be a little bit harder on them."
Zacha said
"It's not going to be one guy it's going to be all of us as a group...he brings much more than what you see on the ice so we're going to have to do that as well and have a lot of guys step up and talk."
Frederic responded.
It will be interesting see what kind of response the Bruins have for Florida tonight. They will need to keep their emotions in check and avoid giving the Panthers red hot power play any unnecessary opportunities after going four for six last game.
One thing is for certain, the Bruins are going to target the Panthers for what they did to Brad Marchand
"I think we have to really go after their top guys. To let them know it's not OK. To go after our captain, that's not OK with us."
Prepare yourselves for
@NHLBruins
vs.
@FlaPanthers
Game 4, which won't have Brad Marchand but could have some vengeance.
Game 4 between the Panthers and Bruins will be must see TV.
