It goes without saying that part of the recipe for being successful in pushing through the Stanley Cup playoffs is to have a solid back end, and although the New York Rangers have Igor Shesterkin protecting the pipes, it's the play of Jacob Trouba that has people talking, but not necessarily for the right reasons.

Trouba, by all accounts, is a fantastic hockey player and one of the best defensemen in the league, and in reality, he's done exactly what he's needed to do during the playoffs by stepping up his game, but at what cost should be something everyone is asking. Trouba, who earlier this week went flying into the boards head first with his elbow up and out after missing what could only be called a blatant opportunity at intent to injure Hurricanes Martin Necas, was at it again last night, however it didn't look nearly as obvious. The more glaring question might be as to whether the official was looking at Trouba or the puck that Kuznetsov riffled into the back of the net.

When you play in the National Hockey League, there is a level of understanding that inherent risk occurs and that quite often you have guys flying around playing at or over the edge, not just to gain an edge but because they know if they can get away with it once, it may not be caught the next time until it is.

While Trouba should reign it in a little before he hurts someone during these playoffs, it is likely that he'll keep playing this way because it works. Also, asking a guy to change the way he plays the game is a rather tall task when he's been used to doing so his entire career. But does the league need to do something about his play? Tell us in the comments and in our poll.
