Fire Don Sweeney Chants Rain Down at TD Garden After the Boston Bruins Fifth Straight Loss
The Boston Bruins have struggled mightily as of late, and now their fans at the TD Garden have given them a send off after their latest defeat, with the team struggling for any type of momentum as the seasons rolls along.
After a slow start to the 2024/25 campaign, the Boston Bruins seemingly turned their campaign around after replacing Jim Montgomery with current Head Coach, Joe Sacco.
However, it's been one step forward, two steps back for this team all season long, and with another poor patch of form upon us, it appears as though some big changes could be coming in Bean Town.
Things reached fever pitch on Tuesday night, as the team would fall 4-0 to the defending Western Conference Champion Edmonton Oilers, with the team being escorted off the ice after the game to raucous booing from the Bruins crowd in attendance.
Despite the loss, Boston remain within contention in the Eastern Conference, with their 20-18-5 record seeing them sit in third place in the division, and although the Wild Card chasers are within four points of them, they still control their destiny as 2024/25 rolls on.
Given the pedigree of top stars like Brad Marchand, Charlie McAvoy, Jeremy Swayman and David Pastrnak, this team believes they should be in a much better position, as they are just two years removed from the greatest regular season in NHL history.
On top of the boo's, there was also a 'fire Don Sweeney' chant that erupted during the game, showing that while the record isn't dreadful, the fans are not happy with the way this team is playing, and if it gets even worse throughout the year, we could see a seismic shift for the Boston Bruins at some point before seasons end.
