There are a few hockey players around the NHL that TV Executives would hate to have access to a live microphone. Of them, the worst possible option would be Brad Marchand of the Boston Bruins. While not live, he was mic'd up for a recent game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, and the audio is hilarious.
The footage is from earlier this month as Boston hosted Toronto. The sequence shows Leafs defenceman Jake McCabe giving Marchand a shove to his chest after the whistle, while the Bruins captain goes down suspiciously hard, hoping to catch the referee's attention. That draws a scrum, with the Bruins Charlie McAvoy calling McCabe a clown and telling him he's going to get suspended.
Marchand gingerly gets back to his feet without saying much. However, a little later, he's up at centre ice when he starts skating back down towards the net yelling at someone. He went off, with a speech that contains so many bleeps it sounds like R2-D2 from Star Wars.
It goes on and on like that with Marchand telling whomever he's talking to, presumably McCabe, that he's coming for him his next shift. Just Marchand doing Marchand things.
