As the Carolina Hurricanes go into an offseason where many feel their season ended abruptly, the organization may have already determined which goaltenders they intend to go with during the 2023-2024 National Hockey League season.

According to insider David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Hurricanes have engaged in talks with Frederik Andersen regarding a contract extension. Both Andersen and Antti Raanta go into the offseason as unrestricted free agents and all indications are that Carolina would feel more comfortable having Andersen and Pyotr Kochetkov as their goaltenders for next season and possibly beyond.

Andersen, 33, finished with a record 21-11-1 with a .903 save percentage and a 2.59 GAA. Kotchetkov, who split time between Carolina and the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League, finished with a 12-8-5 record with the Canes.

While it may be necessary, for the Hurricanes to decide to make several changes to their roster for next season and with many UFAs it's likely, it is also possible they try to replicate the success they had this season to run in back-to the Stanley Cup playoffs next season.
