The Carolina Hurricanes are heading into the off-season after falling to the Florida Panthers in the 3rd round of the playoffs, a disappointing end to be sure and it appears they're ready to walk away from a young forward.

According to Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli, Jesse Puljujärvi won't receive a qualifying offer from the Carolina Hurricanes this summer making him a free agent; take a look.

Puljujärvi, 25, played in 75 games this season split between the Edmonton Oilers and the Hurricanes. In those contests, he collected just 5 goals and 11 assists for 16 total points.

Puljujärvi Has struggled to find consistent playing time in his NHL career, in fact, the belief is, instead of trying to stay in the NHL he might look at other options like the KHL or returning to Finland to continue his career.

For someone who was drafted 4th overall in 2016, he just hasn't lived up to the hype.

Maybe the best course of action for him is to go to a different league, it's clear that even though Puljujärvi has tremendous upside, his game just hasn't been able to translate to the NHL.
