Minnesota Wild appear to make controversial decision involving Marc-Andre Fleury
The Minnesota Wild are scheduled to begin their Central Division playoff matchup tonight against the Dallas Stars. The two rivals are expected to face off in a heated matchup that should test both clubs. Unlike the Stars, heading into tonight's game the Wild have a very difficult decision to make in net.
This season the Wild have operated a true tandem with Marc-Andre Fleury and Filip Gustavsson. Throughout the season both players have seized the net at different times, but statistically Gustavsson has been the much better goaltender. However Fleury's exceptional playoff experience led many to believe he would be the obvious choice for Game 1.
Today at practice it appears that the Wild have opted to go with Gustavsson as their playoff starter. Gustavsson was the first goalie off of the ice at practice, a ritual the Wild have used for their starting goaltenders all season.
With Game 1 scheduled for 9:30 tonight we will find out sooner than later if the Wild have made the right choice.
