Ahead of Game 1 on Monday night, Los Angles Kings defenceman Drew Doughty had some strong words when asked about Connor McDavid and his hit on Mikey Anderson back on March 30th.
The hit Doughty was referring to occurred early in the first period back in late March when the two teams met in Edmonton. Kings defenceman Mikey Anderson was chasing down the puck in his own zone when McDavid comes in and hits him right on the numbers into the boards. McDavid received a two-minute minor on the play for boarding, but did not get any supplemental discipline, such as a fine or suspension.
Doughty added that while they will take a shot at McDavid if they get the chance to, because they haven't forgotten about the hit, but they don't want to take unnecessary penalties, which is probably the safe thing to do given that the Oilers just set the NHL record for powerplay percentage in the regular season.
Puck drop for Game 1 between the Oilers and Kings at Rogers Place in Edmonton is set for 10 p.m. ET and can be viewed on ESPN, CBC and Sportsnet.
Drew Doughty said the Kings weren't happy with Connor McDavid's hit on Mikey Anderson in the last matchup in Edmonton. He said they haven't forgotten and don't want to take needless penalties, but
