Some of Russia's best players have played in the KHL for a period before making the jump to North America. New York Rangers' playmaker Artemi Panarin played in the KHL for nine seasons before making the jump to the NHL. Florida Panthers goalie Sergei Bobrovsky played two seasons in the KHL before coming over.
It appears another KHL player wants to make the move back to the NHL. 27 year old Vladimir Tkachev signed a one-year contract with Avangard Omsk, his hometown club after one season in North America playing for the LA Kings franchise. During the 2021-2022 season Tkachev played four games for the Kings recording two assists. Most of his season was spent in the AHL with the Ontario Reign, scoring seven goals and twenty nine points in fourty one games.
After his one season in North America, Tkachev went back to the KHL having a very productive year scoring twenty three goals and fifty nine points in sixty four games.
His representation the Shumi Babaev Agency has tweeted that they are not happy with the amount Avangard Omsk offered on a new contract . Their number one goal is to sign a contract in NHL.
Tkachev will be an interesting name to watch out for this summer, as he will definitely attract some suitors. He could be the next in a growing list of Russian players coming to North America to secure a future.
